BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, June 4th, 2016 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Shackin Up turned out to be a good, but penurious, Pick last week, but she got the job done thought we were a bit disappointed that our exacta box Pick, Tizway That Way, was scratched. We told you we thought every BreezeFigs 2-year-old first-timer on the card was worth playing, and another one, Recruiting Ready, came in at Pimlico at $3.20, while the other two completed trifectas at Santa Anita and Woodbine. Among the 3-year-olds, nine of them got their acts together well enough to break their maidens, three at Gulfstream and one each at Arlington, Belmont, Churchill, Emerald, Santa Anita and Woodbine. The two juveniles on today’s card might be worth a gimmick play, but the real play is among the 3-year-olds, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Santa Anita Park, 9th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Three BreezeFigs maidens are in this one and if he can out of his way, Supervisor should show his heels to this field. He was an eight-over-Par Group 2 number at OBSMAR last year where his 25.98 foot stride length (SL) was two feet longer than average for colts that day at one furlong, prompting a final bid of 440k. The other first-timer, Right Wing, came up with quite the opposite profile the next month at OBSAPR where he clocked a four-under-Par Group 3 profile with a 20.92 foot SL, more than two feet below average for colts that day. There obviously was something amiss with both of them to have taken this long to get to the races, and maybe Right Wing showed it in the breeze but he still brought 75k. Horse Greedy has made two starts already but has been off since his decent effort in January. He comes out of OBSMAR with a two-under-Par Group 3 profile that featured a 23.97 foot SL, just about average for the day. He might be worth tossing into a gimmick with Supervisor who, if he is in one piece, could turn out to be a nice horse. Good luck!
