BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, June 30, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our 2-year-old key Bano Solo made it look easy last week and our gimmick Pick Most Mischief made it up to the wire to complete the trifecta. On the other hand, Outlaw, our 3-year-old Pick and everyone’s favorite, ran an unaccountably yuck race, but one for two isn’t a bad batting average. In fact, 10 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens won during the week, very high for June, at: Belmont (four, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Churchill, Delaware (two), Gulfstream (two), and Louisiana Downs. Six juveniles broke their maidens at: Arlington, Canterbury (two), Churchill, Santa Anita (a BreezeFigs exacta), and Thistledown. Saturday features a sneaky 3-year-old bet and a potential star among the babies, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here are Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds
Belmont Park, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight (New York-Breds), 6 Furlongs (Turf)
This one is interesting for several reasons: On the turf, six furlongs, New York-Breds, possible odds-on favorite in Market Bubble whose six-over-Par Group 1 ticket at OBSMAR featured a 25.76 foot stride length (SL), more than a foot longer for colts that day at a quarter mile. It’s also a chance to see if his sire, Fed Biz, can get early winners because most of his 2-year-olds were pretty quick at the sales. The other BreezeFigs entrant, Sayhellotomylilfrn is at 20-to-1, and so he should be based on his even-Par Group 2 record at OBSMAR where his 23.24 foot SL was more than a foot and a third shorter than average for colts at a quarter mile on another day at that sale. Hook up Market Bubble with whatever, sit back and watch. Could be an interesting colt.
3-Year-Olds
Tampa Bay, 3rd Race Maiden Claiming ($12,500), 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Nice to see connections place a $7,500 OBSAPR graduate where she belongs first time out. Super Bonita chalked up a respectable even-Par Group 2 ticket at that sale with a 23.55 foot SL, just below average for fillies that day at an eighth. She’s obviously not much, but she is a tempting 5-to-1 on the morning line but also on the rail. She’s a good key or gimmick play. Good luck!
