Breezefigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, June 29, 2019 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore

webmaster|Jun 28, 2019

Our hot 2-year-old Pick was scratched last Saturday but came back the next day to gallop and pay a miniscule three bucks—but hey, if you remembered what we said, you might have scored. As for our 3-year-old Pick, he was prominently placed but didn’t look like he was ready to kick at any point and finished fourth. There were eight 2-year-old BreezeFigs maidens that won last week, which means the season is really heating up. The wins came at Arlington, Belmont, Churchill (three), Gulfstream, Parx and Santa Anita. The 3-year-olds are still plugging along and 10 of them won at: Arlington, Belmont (two), Fort Erie, Gulfstream, Monmouth, Parx and Santa Anita (three). Today’s cards are all over the place, but we found one in each that is worth a look, see below. NOTE: Happy Fourth of July—no column next week. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pix:

2-Year-Olds:

Los Alamitos, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Dirt)

There are five BreezeFigs fillies in here, two of which are going to be played heavily: Golden Star Lady is on the rail at 6-to-5 and she deserves it based on her first start and her three-over-Par Group 1 effort at OBSMAR where her 25.27 foot stride length (SL) was almost a foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. But she will have to hustle to get clear and maybe waste energy. In the middle of the gate is Powerfulattraction, (making her debut at 3-to-1) who breezed a quarter mile at the same sale and turned in a two-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 25.56 foot SL, almost three-quarters of a foot longer than average. Of the three others in here, Lucky Daughter posted a seven-over-Par ticket at the new FTCJUN sale at Santa Anita but had a short 22.44 foot SL, which ironically was less than a quarter foot shorter than average that day. Quick cadence like that sometimes helps on tight turns like Los Alamitos so she might be worth a gimmick play. Keepingmypromise and Musically look a bit short here. We’d key Powerfulattraction here.

3-Year-Olds:

Monmouth Park, 12th Race, Maiden Claiming ($12,500), 6 Furlongs (Dirt)

Irish Orb blew the doors off at OBSJUN last year with a seven-over-Par Group 1 effort that featured a 24,70 foot SL, more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. But she was scratched (SCR) from the sale after breezing and turns up here a year later for the low rent tag. She was a 140k yearling so she might be worth a gimmick play depending on how much she fluctuates from her 6-to-1 morning line. Good luck!
