BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, June 25th, 2016 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Nonno was a no-no last week, finishing fourth to a hot firster—but keep an eye on him in the future. It was a bit of a lean week for BreezeFigs winners of all ages, but then again there weren’t many opportunities, or many decent ones, to consider. There were three winners among the 3-year-old maidens: two at Santa Anita, both on Saturday (including a $9.70 BreezeFigs exacta for a buck) and one at Delaware—and four previous BreezeFigs maiden winners won stakes races. Two BreezeFigs 2-year-olds broke their maidens, one at Churchill and another at Gulfstream (another exacta at $61.40). Saturday's card is interesting and we are giving you “one from Column A and one from Column B” as it used to be referred to on menus in Chinese restaurants, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds:
Arlington Park, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight (Illinois-Bred), 4 ½ Furlongs (Synthetic)
Forest Circle doesn’t appear as going through a sale in the PP’s, but this one was not sold (RNA) for 95k after posting a five-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSAPR with a 23.66 foot stride length (SL), about a quarter foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. She’s caught someone’s eye and is 3-to-1 in the morning line, so she looks like a key.
3-Year-Olds:
Belmont Park, 3nd Race, Maiden Special Weight (New York-Bred), 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Risener and Beneficial Risk come out of last year’s OBSAPR sale with polar opposite profiles. Risener posted a two-over-Par Group 2 profile with a 23.94 foot stride length, a half-foot longer than average for colts that day at one furlong, and was sold for 55k. Beneficial Risk posted a four-under-Par Group 3 profile with a 23.46 foot SL the next day, almost a half-foot below average for colts that day at a furlong. He was sold for 5k. There you go, looks like Risener is your key here. Good luck!
