BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, June 13th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
OK, this is a good news-bad news report and all the news concerns something which we cannot recall ever happening. First the good news: Our first BreezeFigs Pick for the 2015 juveniles last week resulted in a BreezeFigs trifecta with our top choice, Percolator, paying $20, the exacta with Full Salute $119, and the trifecta with J B’s Big Red $344. There were three other baby BreezeFigs maidens who also won last week, two at Santa Anita and another at Churchill Downs. They are coming out, sporadically, but there are none for Saturday’s card. Boo-hoo. As for the 3-year-olds, eight of them broke their maidens, four at Belmont Park including Little Popsie and Undertherain, who combined for a $32 daily double on Thursday—we can’t recall that happening recently, if ever. The other four winners came at Churchill, Golden Gate, Gulfstream and Thistledown. Now for the bad news: Also for the first time ever, today’s 3-year-old card has no first-time starters. In fact, the dearth of talent for second-timers in most of the races has us dropping our jaw. We did find one play to make because, well, we have to, but proceed with caution, see below.. It’s not our fault. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreeeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Parx Racing, 9th Race, Maiden Claiming ($10,000) Mile (Dirt)
Ourtaleoftwocities did OK at EASMAY last year where he earned an even-Par Group 2 profile at a quarter mile that featured a 24.52 foot stride length, more than half-foot longer than average for colts that day at the distance. However, he was not sold (RNA) for 19k, which means he wasn’t all that impressive in person. And last month he broke very slowly and did nothing in his debut. But, that was at 5 ½ furlongs and this is a mile, so maybe he needed to get his legs under him before he hit that long stride. Let’s hope the mile will help, and consider him for your gimmicks at the very least. Good luck!
