BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, June 13, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Very impressive debut by a well-named 2-year-old BreezeFigs Pick, Herd Immunity, highlighted the week as the racing game got back underway in volume. And the second 2-year-old sale concluded yesterday in Ocala where more than a thousand babies breezed at what will still be called OBSAPR. Meanwhile, nine BreezeFigs 3-year-olds broke their maidens during the week, one each at Belmont, Belterra, Canterbury, Gulfstream, Laurel, Lone Star, Louisiana, Santa Anita and Thistledown. That’s really spreading the wealth. We’ve got a couple of interesting Pix this week, one on each card, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here are Saturday’s Pix:
3-Year-Olds:
Belmont Park, 1st Race, Maiden Claiming ($40,000), 6 Furlongs (Turf)
Two BreezeFigs colts line up here whose PP’s do not include the fact that they breezed but did not sell at their sales last year. Come On E.V. posted a one-over-Par Group 2 profile at EASMAY with a 24.42 foot stride length (SL), more than half foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. But, he was scratched (SCR) after that breeze. Catch That Party posted a two-under-Par Group 4 ticket at OBSAPR with a 24.84 foot SL which was just above average that day at a quarter mile, but failed to sell (RNA) on a bid of 32k. Both of these are worth playing in the gimmicks and one might emerge as a key depending on what the board says.
2-Year-Olds:
Woodbine, 4th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 4 ½ Furlongs (Synthetic)
Northern Cross posted a one-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSMAR with a 24.24 foot SL, more than a third of a foot longer for fillies that day at a furlong. She is generously priced in the morning line and is worth keying. Good luck!
