BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, July 28, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Last week’s Pix was a split doubleheader: Everyone had Nitrous at Saratoga, and our other key in the race, Most Mischief, came in third. At Del Mar, Truck Shopper was fried all alone on the front end and backed up, but he showed abundant speed for the future. In addition to Nitrous, eight other BreezeFigs juveniles broke their maidens last week at: Assiniboia, Del Mar (BreezeFigs exacta). Ellis, Gulfstream, Indiana, Louisiana Downs, and Saratoga (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta). In addition, there was a BreezeFigs exacta in a stakes at Prairie Meadows. There were five 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens who finally got off the schneid at Gulfstream, Prairie Meadows, Saratoga, Thistledown and Woodbine. There is only one first-timer on Saturday's 3-year-old card, better left unsaid. The 2-year-old card offers a couple of intriguing possibilities, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds
Saratoga, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Coast, the one we really liked against Nitrous last week, didn’t break in from the AE list but he’s here today on the outside at 5-to-2. We still like him (what’s not to like?) based on his eleven-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSMAR with a 25.11 foot stride length (SL), more than a foot longer than average for colts that day at an eighth—he should be your key. Absolute Aiden in the adjacent gate might be gimmick worthy here. He had an even-Par Group 2 performance at OBSAPR with a 24.98 foot SL, which was more than half-foot longer than average that day at an eighth.
Arlington Park, 4th Race, Maiden Claiming ($30,000), One Mile (Turf)
First-timer Widdle Giant comes out of OBSAPR with a seven-over-Par Group 1 profile backed by a 25.74 foot SL, which was almost a foot-and-three-quarters longer than average for fillies that day at an eighth. She is in for $30,000, which is less than her $50,000 purchase price, but her connections are clever and at 5-to-1 looks interesting and might be your key. Lady Atlantic comes out of the same sale with a three-over-Par Group 1 profile and a 24.14 foot SL, which was about a quarter foot longer than average at a furlong on a different day. This 10k purchase is dropped in here after a so-so run against open maidens, so she is gimmick worthy. Good luck!
