BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, July 25, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our “Saratoga Sandwich” turned out to be delicious last week as Momos came through at $15 leading home Mo Mischief in a $21 exacta in the top half; and after American Piper tired late Midnight Whiskey closed the sandwich with a $7 payoff. Overall it was an excellent week for BreezeFigs graduates with a half-dozen others from each year breaking their maidens. The 2-year-olds won at Evangeline, Gulfstream (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Indiana, Prairie Meadows, and another at Saratoga. The 3-year-olds won at Charles Town, Finger Lakes, Gulfstream, Lone Star, Mountaineer and Penn National. Today’s cards are good, but we’ve got another one-track special, an “Arlington Appetizer” for your consideration, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here are Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds
Arlington Park, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 4 ½ Furlongs (Synthetic)
First course in the “Arlington Appetizer” features a slight longshot in Scaterra who powered her way to a two-over-Par Group 1 rating with a 24.75 foot stride length (SL) which was three-quarters of a foot longer than average for fillies that day at a quarter mile. She was not sold (RNA) with a final bid of 12k, but is worth a gimmick shot here.
3-Year-Olds
Arlington Park 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Turf)
Second course in the “Arlington Appetizer” gives us the aggressively named Savage, who if he lives up to his OBSAPR performance last year is likely to beat up the opposition. He scored a seven-over-Par Group 1 ticket at a quarter mile with a 24.78 foot SL which was three-fifths of a foot longer than average and looked good doing it. Grand Hideaway came out of the same sale with a two-over-Par Group 2 profile and a 25.87 foot SL, which was four-fifths of a foot longer than average that day at a furlong. We think you could key Savage and dip Grand Hideaway into a gimmick or two to enjoy the repast. Good luck!
