BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, July 15, 2017, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Last week’s 3-year-old Pick ran like a slow train, but our 2-year-old play paid off when our gimmick filly, Missbrooklynbrawler won and our Pick Taylor’s Wildcat completed a $127 (for 50 cents) trifecta. Four 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens won last week at Laurel, Monmouth, Prairie Meadows and Thistledown, reflecting the fact that very few maidens are left in that group. On the other hand, eight other juvenile BreezeFigs maidens got home on top in addition the one mentioned above, at: Arlington, Belmont (BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Lone Star, Los Alamitos, and Monmouth (BreezeFigs exacta). Saturday's cards are a mixed bag, but we think we have found a couple for you to sniff around, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here are Saturday’s Pix:
3-year-olds:
Lone Star Park, 10th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Turf)
Kai Nahu is the only BreezeFigs first-timer on Saturday's 3-year-old card and she looks like a modest long-shot gimmick play here because she might need more distance. She chalked up a two-over-Par Group 2 profile on dirt at EASMAY last year with a 23.85 foot stride length (SL), just above average for fillies that day at a quarter mile, and moved like she might want turf. Then she was scratched (SCR) before the sale began. She fetched $100k as a yearling, so she might be worth watching here.
2-year-olds:
Los Alamitos Racecourse, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Two BreezeFigs fillies are in here, both listed at 5-to-2,. Beyond Ambition makes her debut off a three-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSMAR where her 23.65 foot SL was about a third of a foot longer than average for fillies that day at an eighth on synthetic. Cause We Are Loyal looked pretty good in her second-place finish debut, underscoring her two-over-Par Group 2 profile at FTFMAR where her 23.35 foot SL was about an eighth-of-a-foot longer than average for fillies that day on the dirt. They might come down to the wire together, and in that case we like Beyond Ambition as the key with Cause We Are Loyal the gimmick play. Good luck!
