BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, July 14, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

webmaster|Jul 13, 2018

Our Pick last week is better forgotten as Spanish Exchange simply showed no interest. It was a fairly quiet week all around but seven BreezeFigs 3-year-olds and six BreezeFigs 2-year-olds broke their maidens. The sophomores won at Belmont (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Ellis, Hastings, Laurel, Monmouth and Northlands. The babies won at Arlington, Belmont, Los Alamitos, Monmouth and Prairie Meadows. The Los Alamitos was interesting—all five starters were BreezeFigs horses and they finished in basically the order they should have, paying off some nice BreezeFigs gimmicks. Today’s cards are what you might expect as people are awaiting Saratoga and Del Mar to open to unleash their best, but we’ve found an interesting possibility, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pick:

2-Year-Olds
Parx Racing, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 4 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)

This is not exactly a showcase, with four marginal BreezeFigs colts, but it’s the only race on the card with first timers that offer some potential. Ole Mole scored an even-Par Group 2 ticket with a 23.78 foot stride length (SL) at OBSMAR which was .86 feet shorter than average for colts that day at an eighth. He is part of an entry with a non-BreezeFigs colt. Big Tasty is the one we like even though his profiles are not very strong. He was scratched (SCR) at OBSMAR after a six-under-Par Group 4 performance on the same day as Ole Mole in which his 23.78 foot SL was identical to that colt’s. But he came back with a better performance at EASMAY with a two-under-Par Group 4 profile with a 24.70 foot SL, which was about a quarter foot longer than average. He is part of an entry with Black Light, whose four-under Par Group 4 profile at EASMAY featured a 25.13 foot SL, a half-foot longer than average, after which he was not sold (RNA) at 19k. Whose Baby is That, on the rail, had a five-under-Par Group 4 profile at OBSMAR with a 23.44 foot SL, .82 of a foot shorter than average. This race should be a battle of the entries, but we tip it to the one headed by Big Tasty. Good luck!
