BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, July 11, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
So this is how it went with our 3-year-olds Pick: One was scratched at the gate, the other barely got out of the gate and is probably still running. Then our 2-year-old Pick showed high speed early but ran out of gas late and there you go. In the meantime, eight other BreezeFigs 3-year-olds broke their maidens at Belmont, Fort Erie, Fonner Park, Keeneland, Los Alamitos (three, all on Sunday) and Prairie Meadows. The 2-year-olds are revving up with three of them breaking their maidens last week at Belmont, Gulfstream and Keeneland. Today’s 3-year-old card does not have a single first-time starter with a decent BreezeFigs profile, but there are a few 2-year-old races with one of them featured below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here are Saturday’s Pick:
2-Year-Olds
Gulfstream Park, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
First six furlong try for the babies on our cards features three BreezeFigs fillies from OBSMAR, one of which, Con Lima, has a very nice seven-over-Par Group 1 profile with a 24.70 foot stride length (SL) that was more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average that day for fillies at a furlong. She is also nicely positioned at 8-to-1 on the morning line. Of the other two, I Am The Boss looks a bit better based on her one-over-Par Group 2 ticket where her 23.78 foot SL on the same day as Con Lima was just under average. Both Con Lima and I Am The Boss were not sold (RNA) at the sale with final bids of 22k and 34k respectively. Diamond Slew on the rail breezed on a different day posting an even-Par Group 2 number with a 23.13 foot SL, almost a half-foot shorter than average that day. We think Con Lima is worth a key bet and check the board to see if either of the other two might be gimmick plays. Good luck!
