BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, January 9, 2021 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Got the New Year off right but we certainly didn’t expect our Pick Breakfastatbonnies to bury her field at Aqueduct like she did, but we’ll take it at $6.80 anyway! She was one of 11 newly-turned 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens to win during the week, with six of them coming at Gulfstream (including a BreezeFigs exacta). The other solos came at Fair Grounds, Laurel, Tampa and Turfway. Add four stakes winners and it was a pretty good start to what will hopefully be a better year. Today’s card is a little of this and a little of that, so we’ll give you one of each, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Aqueduct, 4th Race, Maiden Claiming 40k (New York-Breds), 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Aurannian posted a three-over-Par Group 1 number at EASMAY with a 24.57 foot stride length (SL) which was more than half-a-foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. The only other BreezeFigs filly in here, Moonlight Kiss, is likely to run the day before and her poor six-under-Par Group 4 ticket at OBSJUN with a 24.01 foot SL isn’t going to help too much. Go with Aurannian as your key here.
Gulfstream Park, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
This could be a key race and two of the three BreezeFigs colts in here have good gimmick chances. Firster Jeebar posted a five-over-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSAPR with a 24.02 foot SL, which was average for the day for colts at a furlong. Candy Man Rocket breezed a different day at the same sale and had an eight-over-Par Group 1 profile with a 26.75 foot SL, more than two feet longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He did nothing special in his debut but might clunk up for a piece here. Mystery Mo threw in a two-under-Par Group 3 ticket at OBSJUN with a 23.88 foot SL, basically average that day at a quarter mile. We’d be favorably inclined to give more attention to Jeebar in the gimmicks, but Candy Man Strong should not be ignored. Good luck!
