BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, January 2nd by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Happy New Year one and all, may the manna from the mutual machines be ever present in your lives each day. OK, we got slightly carried away. Over the past couple of weeks, eighteen BreezeFigs maidens crossed the wire first which is pretty good considering there were a lot of dark days. Five of those winners came at Gulfstream, three at Los Alamitos, two at Aqueduct, Fair Grounds and Tampa, with solos at Charles Town, Golden Gate, Mahoning Valley and Santa Anita. Today’s card has a lot of opportunities for you as these babies become sophomores, including our Pick for the day, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick: Gulfstream Park, 9th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Three first time starters go up against one of our previous Pix, R Girls a Charmer, who is making her second start off an excellent debut in which she set the pace despite our feeling that she would be best closing off the pace and going further. She is the one to beat here anyway with her OBSAPR one-over-Par Group 2 profile which featured a 25.06 foot stride length (SL) at a quarter mile having been justified in her debut. Two other OBSAPR Group 2 graduates make their first starts here, beginning with Eva London who racked up a four-over-Par profile at two furlongs with a 23.94 foot SL, more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average for fillies on a different day. Mo’ Green went one furlong to achieve her one-over-Par rating with a 24.93 foot SL, more than a foot-and-a-half longer than average that day for fillies at the distance. At the tonier OBSMAR sale, Vroomvroomvroom chalked up a two-over-Par Group 2 profile at a furlong with a 24.61 foot SL that was more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average that day for fillies at that distance. These four are basically even on their BreezeFigs profiles, and it will all boil down to racing tactics—patience will be needed. We think Vroomvroomvroom has a very good shot to upset R Girls a Charmer, and the other two are solid gimmick plays. Good luck!
