Although our sneaky top pick Ashland's Pride didn t quite have the goods to get into the money, we are happy that our other two BreezeFigs runners in last week s Quick-Pix selection managed to salvage something when the more experienced Inflight got up at the wire to win by a nose ($7.60) and firster Hard to Guard completed the $1 Trifecta for $90. And even though only one was on the card because he was making just his fourth start (The Pamplemousse at Santa Anita), there were three BreezeFigs-qualified stakes winners that day (Jack Spratt at Gulfstream and Musket Man at Tampa Bay, were the other two). On the Martin Luther King holiday, three of the four maiden races on the card went to BreezeFigs-qualified horses. Today there are 10 maiden races for 3-y-os on the BreezeFigs card, five of which feature at least one first-time starter, one of which we focus on below. So sign up for DRF-Plus and get the card on the front page of . \n\n\nRemember, there s a new look to our sheets for the sales of 2008 we have added SURFACE as a new category to tell you whether the horse breezed on a dirt (D) or synthetic (S) track. There are four (S) sales this year OBSFEB, OBSMAR, OBSAPR and KEEAPR; and three D sales FTFFEB, BARMAR and EASMAY. Just to add some more insight to your handicapping. \n \nAlso, our rules still hold about BreezeFigs qualified runners: You can get a good idea of what qualified BreezeFigs horses are by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF PLUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there. Remember, keep stride length (SL) in mind when handicapping from the BreezeFigs sheet and take advantage of all the tips that we provide on those sheets as well.\n\nAlso, refer to a study we did which shows that using BreezeFigs for 3-year-old maiden races in just as viable as using them for 2-year-old maiden races. Go to the DRF PLUS box on the . \n\nIf you d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: .\n\nThere are several good opportunities to make money on the card with firsters, but this one sticks out in our book. Good luck!\n \n \nGulfstream Park, , Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs(Dirt)\n\n\nShe was pricey (310k) and with Pletcher as her trainer she is likely to be no bargain, but La Rocca is a stick out in this filly maiden, at least on her BreezeFigs profile. The only BreezeFigs horse in this race, she comes out of a six-over-Par, Group 1 performance at 1/8 mile at OBSMAR last year, and everything she did said buy me, please. Not the least of these factors was her 25+-foot SL, a foot longer than average for fillies at that distance that day. Her internal BreezeFigs numbers were also quite good and if she settles well and has a good trip, they will be following her tail home. Good luck!
