BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, January 23rd by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
How nice to see two of your three Pix come storming to the line together—and pay off with a $401 exacta. That’s what happened when Instant Drama ($28) nailed Always Believe in the last stride last week. But what topped it is if you happened to also like Dancing Ava as a gimmick throw-in, you got back $12,775 in the superfecta. Not a bad kick off for a week where 11 BreezeFigs maidens broke through to win, including two more BreezeFigs exactas—at Gulfstream and Penn National. Aqueduct and Oaklawn each had two winners, while Delta Downs, Fair Grounds, Golden Gate and Laurel had one each. There were also BreezeFigs stakes winners at Aqueduct Laurel and Oaklawn. Today’s card is likely to be compromised by weather but we found a sneaky good one in the Land of Sunshine, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick: Gulfstream Park, 2nd Race, Maiden Claiming ($12,500), 7 Furlongs (Dirt)
Three OBSAPR graduates are in here including the even-money morning line favorite, Leopardshill Road, who has raced well three times in much better company and is suddenly dropped into the bottom maiden condition. She was an even-Par Group 2 number with a 23.23 foot stride length (SL) at the sale, which was about average for fillies that day at a furlong. Starship Pandora, who was not sold (RNA) for 29k at the sale (which doesn’t appear in PPs), also chalked up a Group 2 profile but at three-over-Par with a 24.55 foot SL that was 1.6 feet longer than average, and she looks like she might be a good upset try. Baby Antonella is the other one, a Group 4 filly with three starts which reflect her Group 4, four-under-Par profile with a 21,87 foot SL, more than a foot shorter than average that day. We think Starship Pandora, and not Leopardshill Road, might be the key here. Good luck!
