BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, January 22, 2022 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
The kindest thing we can say about the two Pix last week that were not cancelled because of the weather is that they filled the superfectas, and one also competed the trifecta. Along the way five BreezeFigs maidens came home on top during the week at: Aqueduct (BreezeFigs trifecta), Fair Grounds (two, including a BreezeFigs trifecta) and Tampa Bay (two). Today’s card is again subject to the wont of the weather gods and in addition a few decent looking Pix are on the AE lists, so we have to search for likely opportunities. We found one likely and one probably subject to weather, see below. Good luck and stay safe..
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Aqueduct, 4th Race, Maiden Special Weight (New York-Breds) 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
We’re taking a shot here even though Friday’s card was cancelled but if Saturday’s is run you might want to look at the lone BreezeFigs entry, Central Pride on the rail. This one blasted through a seven-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSJUN where his 25.34 foot stride length (SL) was well over a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. Deserves a key look.
Santa Anita, 8th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Beautiful Art is a juicy 15-to-1 in the morning line which belies his seven-over-Par Group 1 ticket at OBSAPR where his 24.28 foot SL was a third of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He is up against two 4-to-1 shots whose first starts and BreezeFigs profiles are not necessarily outstanding. Midnight Fury had a six-under-Par Group 3 rating at the same sale on a different day and his 23.93 foot SL was a quarter of a foot shorter than average. He closed well in his second start and rates a look-see here. Sense of Dominance threw in two almost identical under-Par Group 3 performances at two sales: at OBSAPR—where he was scratched (SCR) after posting a 24.21 foot SL on the same day as Midnight Fury; and then was sold at EASMAY after posting a basically average 24.29 foot SL. This race is a toss-up and may force you to really pay attention to whether Beautiful Art slips into reasonable “sneaky” tote territory and therefore you might key him. Good luck!
