BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, January 18, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

We’re not quite sure that having had both the favorite and another filly who both flipped before entering the gate made her job easier but our Pick, The Goddess Lyssa, was hardly going to be out of it after she showed her tail to the rest of the remaining field in a 12-length romp last week for Quick-Pix third winner in three weeks. But, we’ll take it. That victory was one of 11 by BreezeFigs maidens during the week, five of which kicked off BreezeFigs gimmicks, the other 10 coming at: Aqueduct (three, including a BreezeFigs super and BreezeFigs exacta); Delta; Gulfstream two (a BreezeFigs trifecta and BreezeFigs exacta); Santa Anita (two); and two more at Tampa (including a BreezeFigs exacta). There are some nice plays you can make today including a couple who were Pix in previous weeks who had bad luck or scratched out, but we found two others that we like as well, see below: Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pix:

Aqueduct, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)

Two BreezeFigs first-time starters in here both have a shot at decent odds. Replicant comes out of OBSMAR with an even-Par Group 2 profile backed by a 25.76 foot stride length (SL), which was more than a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong and went for 200k. Warfront Fighter posted a two-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSAPR with a 25.22 foot SL, which was a half-foot longer than average that day and sold for 60k. We liked the way he moved and would put him down as our key with Replicant a definite gimmick play.

Gulfstream Park, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, Mile (Turf)

Here you have Maine, another pricey American Pharoah making his debut, but not a hot favorite and listed at 6-to-1, and two other BreezeFigs colts who’ve started without impressing. The latter two, Briefcase Bully and Turn of Events, had decent BreezeFigs profiles at OBSJUN, but need to show more to get into gimmick territory here. On the other hand, Maine is made for the weeds and should be your key considering his nine-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSAPR featured a 26.30 foot SL, more than a foot and a half longer than average that day. Good luck!
