BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, January 16, 2021 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
After getting blown away in the first race of our Pick last week we were all thumbs up as Jeebar, our Pick in the second one (off at 7-to-1) went out and opened daylight on our gimmick Pick, Candy Man Rocket (off at 7-to-1), only to have that one pass him in the stretch to kick off a $62 for-a-buck BreezeFigs exacta. The result was one of 21 victories for newly-turned 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens last week, the other 20 coming at: Aqueduct (four), Delta, Fair Grounds (two), Gulfstream (five others including a BreezeFigs trifecta), Parx (two), Penn National, Santa Anita (two, including a BreezeFigs trifecta), and Tampa Bay (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta). Lots of action expected on today’s card with two piquing our interest, ironically at the same two tracks, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Aqueduct, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight (New York-Breds), One Mile (Dirt)
B C Glory Days came out of OBSAPR with an even-Par Group 2 ticket that featured a 24.47 foot stride length (SL), just above average for colts that day at a furlong. He’s on the rail, but this is a mile so he should be able to settle and pounce when ready. Scherzando posted a one-under-Par Group 3 profile at EASMAY where his 25.30 foot SL was more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong, and he was led out of the ring unsold (RNA) at 65k. He did not sparkle in his debut but watch the board. B C Glory Days looks like a reasonable key.
Gulfstream Park, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Turf)
The lone BreezeFigs colt in the race, Si Como No has a chance to live up to his name (Yes Of Course) in this dash based on his three-over-Par Group 2 effort at OBSAPR where his 25.73 foot SL was almost a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He was fast (20.2) and might be a solid gimmick here in a race where a good trip will be a big help. Good luck!
