BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, January 15, 2022 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

webmaster|Jan 14, 2022

Our gimmick Pick, Iron Works, came through for us last week as a hot favorite while our choice, Carronade, had some issues but managed to complete a superfecta; another BreezeFigs starter, Master of Arms, completed the trifecta. Overall it was a very decent week for BreezeFigs maiden 3-year-olds with 10 others breaking their maidens at Aqueduct; Fair Grounds (two); Gulfstream (three more in addition to Iron Works); Parx (BreezeFigs exacta); Santa Anita (BreezeFigs exacta); and Turfway (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta). The weather forecasts for Saturday are in flux so we thought we’d provide you with one from three different climate zones, see below. Good luck and stay safe..

Here’s Saturday’s Pix:

Gulfstream Park, 1st Race, Maiden Claiming (25g) Mile & 70 Yards (Turf)

Not your likely bunch of stakes contenders but Starship Wizard has the credentials to do well on this surface by pedigree and his OBSJUN profile which featured a three-over-Par Group 1 ticket aided by a just over average 24.15 foot stride length (SL). Boggiemiester has lived up to his rather modest five-under-Par Group 3 profile at OBSMAR where his 22.73 foot SL was over a foot-and-a—half shorter than average. We’d key Starship Wizard in this one.

Aqueduct, 9th Race, Maiden Claiming (25g, New York-Breds) 6 Furlongs (Dirt)

If the card is run through brutal cold you might want to key My Inspiration who debuts off a nine-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSJUN where his 24.46 foot SL was a half-foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. My Last Mission and Koosman have yet to hit the board in their previous starts so you can solo with My Inspiration if they’re still running.

Sam Houston, 9th Race, Maiden Special Weight), Mile (Dirt)

Teo is the only BreezeFigs colt in here and his connections will likely make him a shorter favorite than his morning line of 3-to-1 suggests. His four-over-Par Group 2 performance at EASMAY adds strength to that profile where his 26.24 foot SL was two feet longer than average that day—but he was scratched (SCR) from the sale after his breeze. Still, he did attract 230k as a yearling, so he’s worth keying. .Good luck!
