BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, January 13, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
The nasty weather continued to affect race cards everywhere, but BreezeFigs runners held their own. One of our Pix last week, in which we recommended keying on Pokerist and Roble Cayeyano, turned out OK. Pokerist finished second to complete a $17 exacta, and Roble Cayeyano was fourth, completing a $134 super (for a buck). Our second Pick at Santa Anita was scratched. Elsewhere six BreezeFigs maidens won: three at Gulfstream (including a $109 bomb), Mahoning Valley, Santa Anita (BreezeFigs exacta), and Tampa Bay (BreezeFigs exacta). Saturday's card is deep and may not be affected by the cold, but we are giving you two shots once again in presumably warm locations, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Fair Grounds, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Tringale is the only BreezeFigs entrant here and even though he wasn’t the smoothest mover in his four-over-par Group 1 breeze at EASMAY he had a solid 24.49 foot stride length (SL), three-quarters of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. He’s a nice gimmick play at 10-to-1 morning line.
Santa Anita, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Three BreezeFigs maidens in here, one of which, Jimmy Chila is making his second start following a solid second which franked his three-over-Par Group 1 OBSAPR form where his 23.56 foot SL was about average for colts that day at a furlongs. But the other two, both first timers, deserve your attention as well. Kris’s Wild Kat posted a four-over-Par Group 1 ticket at the same sale on a different day and his 23.56 foot SL was about half-a-foot longer than average—but he was scratched (SCR) before the sale began, so he might be a sneaky play here since OBSAPR doesn’t appear in his PP’s. Core Beliefs posted an even-Par Group 2 number at BARMAR with a 24.29 foot SL, just about average for colts at a furlong and he sold for a tidy sum. These three are likely to figure in a number of gimmicks, so watch the board. Good luck!
