BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, for Saturday, February 9, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Weird week all over the place. Our “good key” at Gulfstream, Palomita, whom we thought would go off maybe third choice, got pounded at the windows down to 9-to-10, and then after settling nicely on the pace, got pounded into second place by a boom winner, but at least filled out a $17 exacta. Then on Santa Anita’s inundated track our “quickie” Pick, Polar, got stuck on the rail as he went to press the lead and suddenly called it quits after a half mile to finish somewhere up the coast. Overall during the week seven BreezeFigs maidens won and three previous winners took important stakes. The maiden winners came at Delta, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream (two), Parx (BreezeFigs exacta), Sunland and Tampa Bay. There are a lot of opportunities on today’s card but not many juicy first-timers. However, we think we found one, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Laurel Park, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Fast Master is the only BreezeFigs horse in the race and he has the right connections for a $275k purchase at EASMAY where his six-over-Par Group 1 profile featured a 26.05 foot stride length (SL) which was almost a foot-and-a-half longer than average that day for colts at a furlong. His 7-to-2 morning line looks enticing enough to select him as a key. Good luck!
