BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, February 7th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
It was a lot closer than we expected, but Yiannis showed tremendous courage in justifying our Pick last week at Santa Anita going wire-to-wire to pay a paltry $3.80. He was one of 17 BreezeFigs maidens who got their picture taken in the winner’s circle last week,, including two who kicked off BreezeFigs exactas. In addition to Yiannis, two others broke their maidens at Santa Anita, with Aqueduct chalking up three, Fair Grounds three from one stable (including an exacta), solos at Gulfstream, Laurel, and Oaklawn, two at Penn and three others at Tampa Bay, including an exacta. In addition, Ocean Knight, whom we tabbed as our maiden Pick on December 13th, remained unbeaten with a very impressive win in the Grade 3 Sam Davis at Tampa Bay. In case you’re wondering about all those entries at Churchill Downs on today’s card, those are BreezeFigs horses in the Kentucky Derby Future Book. As for our Pick, we’ve spotted another lone wolf maiden for you to consider, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreeeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick: Gulfstream Park, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, Mile (Dirt)
One BreezeFigs maiden in this line-up, Sixth Man, and from his morning line favoritism (3-to-1) it seems like he might have been tabbed as a good one. We certainly thought so at FTFMAR where his even-Par, Group 2 profile featured a 25.30 foot stride length, which was a foot and a third longer than average for colts that day at one eighth, and it was on the dirt. However, something must have been amiss somewhere because he was not sold (RNA) for 120k. We thought he needed to stretch out and he gets that opportunity here at a mile in his debut, on the outside in a short field. He might be a nice horse. Good luck!
