BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, February 5, 2022 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our Pick last week, Banjo Queen, did not make music for us but the rest of the week was excellent for BreezeFigs maidens. An even dozen of them came home on top at: Aqueduct; Charles Town, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream (three), Laurel (BreezeFigs exacta), Oaklawn (two), Parx, Penn, and Tampa Bay (BreezeFigs exacta). Weather will play a role today and the card is very short with only two first-timers, but one of them is very interesting, see below. Good luck and stay safe..
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Gulfstream Park, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Although he scored a deceptive one-under Par Group 2 ticket at OBSJUN, Unikee did it very professionally with a solid 24.44 foot stride length (SL), just a bit above average for colts that day at a furlong. Slightly Frosted tossed in a one-over-Par Group 2 effort at OBSMAR with a 23.83 foot SL which was about a fifth of a foot longer than average that day, but didn’t show much in his debut. There’s a big priced colt in this race who is likely to take a lot of money, but he’s on the rail and you might want to key Unikee anyway because you never know what will happen. Good luck!
