BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, February 3, 2018

With Fair Grounds cancelling because of serious rain, we were left with two Pix last week—and both came through. At Tampa Bay Downs, our top choice, Humorous Song, did not do well, but our two gimmick plays finished second (Sugar Bow) and fourth (Battle Back Curly) for a $125 exacta, $876 trifecta and $4,910, if you were so inclined and played them right. At Santa Anita, our “nice gimmick play,” Karmic Affinity, lived up to her name by coming in second to complete a $96 exacta with the favorite. There were 11 BreezeFigs maidens who won last week: Aqueduct (three), Charles Town, Delta Downs, Fair Grounds, Parx, Santa Anita and Tampa Bay (three). Saturday's card is loaded with first timers but there’s a sneaky play we found, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pix:

Oaklawn Park, 4th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)

Six BreezeFigs maidens are entered, three are first timers, one of which, Limation, has the connections and the rail to go off the favorite. He posted a two-over-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSAPR with a slightly under average 23.38 foot stride length (SL), so he needs to get out there fast from the rail. Seven Nation Army posted a three-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSMAR with a 24.87 foot SL, more than a foot-and-a-third longer than average for colts that day at a furlong, but was not sold (RNA) at 95k. He came back at OBSJUN with an even-Par Group 1 performance at three furlongs, a rare distance, with a 24.31 foot SL, about a half foot longer than the average at that distance that day. But he was sold for less than half his RNA at the previous sale, so we are scratching our head. Exclamation Point went a furlong at OBSJUN and posted a four-under-Par Group 3 ticket but with a 25.04 foot SL, three-quarters of a foot longer than average for colts that day; but he was scratched (SCR) before the sale began, and we can’t figure him out at all. Of the ones who’ve started, Rickhouse might be OK despite his poor debut, but he had trouble in that one. He posted a six-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSAPR with a 25.71 foot SL, more than two feet longer than average that day—his 15-to-1 morning line makes us drool a bit. Augie and Mojo Man have each had three opportunities and have not shown much, so we’ll settle elsewhere. While Limation is most likely a key, Seven Nation Army and Rickhouse both look eminently “gimmickable” in this one. Good luck!
