BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, February 29, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Happy Leap Day! February is often a month of surprises but fortunately last week’s Pick turned out to be OK as our key Honey Money finished second and our longshot choice Leyte held on for third after setting a hot pace. There were eight BreezeFigs maidens that won last week at: Gulfstream (five, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Tampa Bay (two) and Santa Anita. Today’s card has some interesting opportunities but there’s one that we find very competitive, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Oaklawn Park, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
The three BreezeFigs fillies in here are loaded with speed and talent and should dominate the gimmicks. First-timer Edgeway gets the Pick based on her six-over-Par Group 2 performance at OBSAPR where her 26.43 foot stride length (SL) was two feet longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. The other firster, Moon Date, put up a one-over-Par Group 2 number at OBSMAR with a 25.79 foot SL, a foot and a half longer than average but was not sold (RNA) on a final bid of 400k. Cynical Girl had a useful debut which flattered her three-over-Par Group 1 profile at EASMAY where her 23.89 foot SL was a third of a foot longer than average, but she was scratched (SCR) from the sale before the auction began. This looks like a race where the board might be the key, but we think Edgeway should be that filly. Good luck!
