BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, February 21st by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore

webmaster|Feb 20, 2015

The less said about our Pick last week, the better. Good, that’s better. However, BreezeFigs horses elsewhere made up for it with 10 of them braking their maidens, two of them winning stakes, and one of those stakes winners kicking off a BreezeFigs trifecta. Four maidens won at Gulfstream, two of which kicked off BreezeFigs exactas. Two others scored at Tampa, and there were solo jobs at Fair Grounds, Los Alamitos, Parx and Sam Houston. Both turf sprint stakes on the downhill course at Santa Anita went to BreezeFigs graduates—She’s a Big Winner took the Sweet Life on Saturday, and Bench Warrant kicked off a $113 BreezeFigs trifecta in the Baffle on Sunday, nipping Pain and Misery with Diamond Majesty not far behind. The 2-year-old sales season starts this weekend at Barretts in California which will still be called BARMAR despite being held in February (go figure). Today’s card features 23 first timers among the 62 on the card, and two of them knock heads in our Pick, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreeeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pick:

Fair Grounds, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)

Here we have a case of BreezeFigs bookends, of sorts, since first-timers in here come out of the first (BARMAR) and last (OBSJUN) sales of the year. If he stays in the race (he’s part of an owner entry with another), Lemon Drop Title is the one we like. His Group 1 OBSJUN profile featured a 23.90 foot stride length, more than a half-foot longer than average that day for colts at one furlong on synthetic. However, he was not sold (RNA) for 100k, and he is on the rail, but this could be a very nice horse if he is sound and can deal with a less-than-ideal distance for him. Harvey came out of the BARMAR sale with an even-Par Group 2 profile, but his stride length of 23.61 feet on the dirt was almost a foot shorter than average that day. He might be one who can scamper at short distances so we look for him to be sent from the gate. However, if Lemon Drop Title runs and has a good trip at a distance he might not care for all that much, he is our Pick to catch him, and the rest of the field, in the end. Good luck!
