BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, February 17, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
One of our two first-timer Pix at Aqueduct was basically left at the gate, the other one showed no interest, so it was up to Sharpe and Ready, the other BreezeFigs horse in the race, whom we liked as well, and he came through splendidly as a modest favorite. Our other Pick, at Tampa, did not impress. It was still a very decent week for BreezeFigs maidens. In addition to Sharpe and Ready, 11 others won: Aqueduct (BreezeFigs exacta), Delta, Fair Grounds (three), Gulfstream, Oaklawn, Parx, Santa Anita and Tampa Bay (two). There are some nice plays on today’s card, two of which we think might work, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Laurel Park, 11th Race, Maiden Claiming ($25,000), 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
She’s not the most graceful mover in the world, but if she doesn’t get trapped on the rail Yes I Dance could be a solid gimmick play at 12-to-1 off her three-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSAPR where she showed a 23.20 foot stride length (SL), about a quarter foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong.
Santa Anita, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
This is probably the key maiden race today on any card. The three BreezeFigs fillies are the morning line favorites, and Uppercut is making her debut as the 3-to-1 second choice. She popped an even-Par Group 2 profile at OBSAPR with a 24.08 foot SL, a foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. Spectacular Move, who is 4-to-1 in the morning line, also worked at OBSAPR, but on a different day and posted a four-over-Par Group 2 profile at a quarter mile with a 24.71 foot SL, more than a foot longer than average that day; her debut was very good and she will be tough here. Favored at 8-to-5 is Hotalabamba, whose debut was sparkling, franking her form at EASMAY where she brought $425k following an eight-over-Par Group 1 effort with a 24.95 foot SL, almost a foot and a half longer than average that day at a furlong (the other two, BTW, each brought 260k). These are three nice fillies and you can do no better than to figure out how to box or key them. Good luck!
