BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, for Saturday, February 16, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Well our “key” worked, just not the way we expected. Fast Master went off a generous 9-to-2 and settled nicely but not as nicely as 41-to-1 shot homebred Lordhavemercy who led our Pick home to kick off all sorts of payoffs headed by a $600+ exacta. Such is life. It was a a sterling week otherwise for BreezeFigs maidens all over the country with 19 of them coming home winners at: Aqueduct (five, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Delta, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream (five, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Laurel, Mahoning Valley, Oaklawn (two, both BreezeFigs exactas), Sam Houston and Santa Anita (two). There are quite a number of nice choices on today’s card, but we found one that looks mighty tempting, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Fair Grounds, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Three BreezeFigs entrants here, all making their debuts, in aa race that could shape up as a key one later in the Spring. Get the Prize posted a two-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSMAR with a 25.00 foot stride length (SL) at a quarter mile; he was the only colt to breeze that distance that day. Hitch posted a one-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSAPR with a 24.37 foot SL, which was about a fifth of a foot shorter than average that day at a furlong but he did it quite nicely. Into Morocco posted a three-under-Par Group 3 number at EASMAY with a 23.85 foot SL, three-quarters of a foot shorter than average that day at a furlong—but did not sell (RNA) at 120k. Get the Prize and Hitch are both at 8-to-1 here and they look eminently playable as keys, though we would tip the scale to Hitch. Into Morocco is maybe a gimmick play but not so much. Good luck!
