BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, February 12, 2022 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our Pick last week, Unikee, took a lot of money in the last few flashes and then showed that he has some talent in challenging for the lead most of the way before fading to complete the trifecta. Still, it was a good week for BreezeFigs maidens with eight of them scoring across the country at: Aqueduct, Delta Downs (two), Fair Grounds, Gulfstream, Penn and Santa Anita (two). Today’s card is all over the place in terms of quality with plenty of opportunities, including one we think is the most formidably fascinating, see below. Good luck and stay safe..
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Tampa Bay Downs, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Two colts trained by Todd Pletcher for different outfits come in here with solid BreezeFigs profiles and decent morning line odds. First-timer Quality G scored a deceptive even-Par Group 1 ticket at OBSAPR with a one-third of a foot below average stride length (SL) of 23.77 feet at a furlong, but he did it smoothly and looks like he may have some quality. Bourbon Ready showed promise in his debut which franked his OBSMAR form of three-over-Par Group 2 at a quarter of a mile—his 24.81 foot SL was a half-foot longer than average that day. Caminero tossed in a four-under-Par Group 4 performance at OBSJUN where his 23.27 foot SL was more than three-quarters of a foot shorter than average—and was scratched (SCR) before the auction began and has basically performed that way to date. You could do a lot worse on the entire card today than to key Quality G and Bourbon Ready. Good luck!
