BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, February 10, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Bizarre play-out of our Pick at Oaklawn last week: BreezeFigs maidens completed an exacta, trifecta and superfecta, which should have made us happy except our two BreezeFigs keys were up the track. And to emphasize how deep this BreezeFigs crop is, a couple of hours later in the 9th at Oaklawn the same thing happened. Maybe we picked the wrong race? No matter. As it turned out it was a very good week for BreezeFigs maidens with a dozen of them winning at Delta Downs, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream (two), Oaklawn (previously mentioned two plus another one), Parx (two), Santa Anita (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta) and Tampa Bay (the winner was a previous Pick). There were also three Graded stakes winners on the cards—Audible, Lombo and Dream Tree. Not shabby at all. Today we have a split treat—a logical Pick and a sneaky one, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Aqueduct, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Three of the six in here are BreezeFigs maidens, two first timers who will be bet, and one who is likely to be favored. The latter is Sharpe and Ready, who made his debut last month and ran one paced. He was scratched (SCR) at OBSMAR after he posted a five-over-par Group 1 profile with a 23.53 foot stride length (SL), about equal to colts that day at a furlong. This does not appear in your PP’s so note that, especially when it comes to the other two. Both Ballard High and Broadway Bandit come out of OBSJUN and were among the highest prices there. Ballard High scored a two-over-Par Group 2 profile with a 25.44 foot SL, a foot longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. On another day Broadway Bandit clocked a one-under-Par Group 3 number with a 25.13 foot SL, more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average. These three should take all the money and are a legitimate bunch of plays.
Tampa Bay, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Panga is the lone BreezeFigs wolf in here with a number of off-the-page strikes against him: On the rail, by a turf sire, and 15-to-1 in the morning line, But he did post a decent one-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSJUN with a 24.34 foot SL, just about average that day for colts at a furlong, and sold for a decent 40k. Looks like a nice sneaky gimmick play. Good luck!
