BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, December 5, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Although it’s never a good sign when our Pick is fractious behind the gate, they eventually got Gallant Star into the gate and he was off slow but made a huge middle move only to flatten out. At least if you keyed him with the whole field he paid off filling out a very big superfecta, but that didn’t help those who didn’t play the two longshots who finished first and second. Otherwise, it was a banner week for BreezeFigs 2-year-old maidens as 21 of them came home winners at: Aqueduct (six, including two BreezeFigs exactas), Charles Town, Churchill (two), Del Mar (BreezeFigs exacta), Delta, Fair Grounds (four), Gulfstream (BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream West (so long, GPW, it’s been good to know you), Hawthorne, Penn and Turfway (two). The 3-year-olds are still plugging along with winners at Fair Grounds and Tampa. Today’s card is likely to be affected by weather patters, but we found two places where the sun might shine, hopefully on our Pix, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds
Hawthorne, 3rd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
The only BreezeFigs colts in this one are both eligible to be played as keys. Etched in Stone posted a three-over-Par Group 1 number at OBSJUN with a 23.88 foot stride length (SL, just above average for colts that day at a furlong. Buck Moon breezed a different day at the same sale and posted a five-over-Par Group 2 ticked with a 24.86 foot SL, a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. Pounce.
Los Alamitos, 6th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Four BreezeFigs fillies in here with three of them making their debuts, each of which could figure. Honor America posted a two-over-Par Group 2 profile at EASMAY with a 25.70 foot SL, a foot-and-a-half longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. The other three came out of OBSAPR on different days with firsters Lady Mystify posting a one-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a just above average 24.33 foot SL, and Miss Melody scooting to a three-over-Par Group 2 profile with a 23.59 foot SL, more than half-foot below average that day; both breezed a furlong. Freedom Flyer is making her fourth start and has been there or thereabouts enough to justify her one-under-par Group 3 profile where she posted a 24.82 foot SL, almost half-foot longer than average that day at a quarter mile. She’s the morning line favorite and we’d key her and Lady Mystify in this one with the other two as a possible throw-ins depending on what the board blinks. Good luck!
