BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, December 29, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
We said we were not thrilled that one of our Pix, Tapit’s Princess, was in a sprint, and it turned out we were correct—she struggled to get into stride and needs to go longer. On the other hand, our other Pick, Higgins, was obstreperous in the gate and not much better behaved when they sprung them. Not a good outcome for our Pix, but in a week few tracks were open, an even dozen BreezeFigs maidens won. They came home first at Aqueduct (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Delta, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream (four, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Penn National, Turfway, and Santa Anita. Saturday's card is a bit short on playable first-timers, but there’s a race we found which should do you some good for the new year—which we wish will be a healthy, happy and prosperous one for all of you. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Gulfstream Park, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 7 Furlongs (Dirt)
There are four BreezeFigs entrants here, two of them first-timers and they are the ones that will get most of the money. Last Judgment is listed at 2-to-1 in the morning line and that is right based on his six-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSAPR where his 26.15 foot stride length (SL) was more than a foot-and-a-half longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. Ironically, Art G is Back breezed at the same sale on the same day and posted a two-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 25.36 foot SL, which was more than three-quarters of a foot longer than average. He’s at 6-to-1. Cash On Hand comes out of the same sale on a different day and had a two-under-Par Group 3 profile with a very short 22.08 foot SL, more than two feet below average that day—and he was promptly scratched (SCR) before the sale began. He has not shown much in three starts. Kong Style posted a two-under-Par Group 3 ticket at OBSJUN where his 24.64 foot SL was a half foot longer than average that day, but his debut was not promising. This race tells us to key on Last Judgment and toss in Art G is Back with him if you wish. Good luck!
