BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, December 28, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
To paraphrase an old saying “into our Pix last week a lot of rain did fall” upon the Fair Grounds. With our hot filly Pick scratched out of her race and the colts in the other event drowning in mud, it was not a pleasant situation, but then who knew? It was a short and sparse week for racing across the country resulting in only six BreezeFigs maidens who won, at: Delta, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream, Hawthorne (BreezeFigs exacta), Laurel (BreezeFigs exacta) and Tampa. Today’s card is dotted with lots of opportunities but we’ll give you two for the money again to see how far we can get, see below Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
Santa Anita, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Opening Day was delayed but we think this race could get you off to a good start. The cleverly named Devil Made Me Doit blew the doors off at OBSJUN with a 12-over-Par Group 1 profile that featured a 25.71 foot stride length (SL), almost a foot-and-a-half longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. Someone likes him enough to give him a morning line price of 4-to-1. Railsplitter has had three chances to show his two-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSMAR is legit where his 24.64 foot SL was more than a third-of-a-foot longer than average that day—but the morning line at 12-to-1 and our assessment render him a toss-out. Key on The Devil Made Me Doit and pray that he has a good trip.
Delta Downs, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Dirt)
They have first timers Taylor’s Lightning at 12-to-1 in the morning line and Miss Pueblo West at 9-to-2, which probably is more reflective of their connections than our BreezeFigs profiles. Taylor’s Lightning blasted her way to a six-over-Par Group 1 ticket at OBSAPR with a 24.23 foot SL, a foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. On the other hand, Miss Pueblo West was scratched (SCR) from the same sale after posting a five-under-Par Group 4 profile with a 22.84 foot SL, which was almost a foot-and-a-half shorter than average that day at a quarter mile—obviously something went wrong in the breeze. You might want to toss the latter into the gimmick pile and key on Taylor’s Lightning who could be a real deal, Good luck!
