BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, December 16, 2017, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
When he was nicely positioned and ready to make a move, our Pick last week, Derby Kingdom, simply did not accelerate and one-paced it home. On the other hand, the modest BreezeFigs trifecta earlier in the day at the same track in the Grade 1 Starlet was right there on the card. There were 11 BreezeFigs maidens that won last week including one at Los Alamitos; the others came at: Aqueduct (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Gulfstream (three), Tampa Bay (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta) and Zia (two). Saturday's card is a bit short of stick-out first timers, but there’s a race with some of them which might stir your wagering juices, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Tampa Bay Downs, 10th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Six BreezeFigs fillies are entered here, including four first-timers, one of which, Sugar Bow, is on the AE’s; if she gets in she’s at best a gimmick play based on her even-Par Group 2 effort at OBSAPR where her 23.07 foot stride length (SL) was three-quarters of a foot below average for fillies that day at a quarter mile. On the other hand, two of the other three first-timers need some attention and all come out of OBSJUN. Rattlesnakerose had a one-over-Par Group 2 profile with a whopping 25.30 foot stride length (SL), more than a foot-and-a-half longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. Bobby’s Dame came out of her one -over-Par OBSAPR breeze with a very poor 21.57 foot (SL), and was promptly scratched (SCR) from the sale. She came back at OBSJUN with an even-Par Group 2 profile and a 23.62 foot SL, which was modestly under average for fillies that day at an eighth. Oh Charlie earned an even-Par Group 2 ticket at that sale but her 22.99 foot SL was almost a foot short of average. Glitterati Gal was unimpressive in her debut at Churchill but her four-over-Par Group 1 profile at EASMAY can’t be ignored, especially considering her 23.93 foot SL was three-quarters of a foot longer than average. Prospective Lady seems to have awakened in her third start showing signs that her three-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSJUN may be coming to fruition, especially since her 25.38 foot SL was almost a foot-and-a-half longer than average. We think keying in on her and Rattlesnakerose with Bobby’s Dame and Glitterati Gal as gimmick plays might be the best way to go. Good luck!
