BreezeFigs Quick-Pix, Saturday, December 15th
Guess our trip to the Pampas made us a little rusty in the handicapping department last week, but weve oiled the brain and are moving on with a solo encounter this week on a BreezeFigs card that is pretty well spread out geographically with 11 first-time starters thrown in the mix.
Remember, our rules still hold about BreezeFigs qualified runners: You can get a good idea of what qualified BreezeFigs horses are by clicking on BreezeFigs Information underneath the two BreezeFigs links in the DRF-PUS box in the right hand column on the home page and downloading files there. Remember, keep stride length (SL) in mind when handicapping from the BreezeFigs sheet and take advantage of all the tips that we provide on those sheets as well.
Heres our shot for the weekendgood luck:
Hollywood Park, , Maiden Special, 6 Furlongs (Turf)
On paper, this looks like a potential key maiden race for turf specialists given the PPs of some of those that started and the pedigrees sprinkled throughout the field. Only one is a BreezeFigs horse, Dancing Wildfire, but he looks good based on his performance at KEEAPR, and hes been breezing very steadily ever since. At KEEAPR he posted a five-over-Par Group 1 BreezeFig at ¼ mile on the turf, showing a solid 24.86 ft SL, which was about a quarter foot better than the average for colts that day on the turf at that distance. Hes by the right sire in Cozzene and the dam was pure turf. If he has any tactical speed to get into position, he could be in the mix from the startbut hes more likely to come from off the pace with a long-striding finish. Hes a gimmick play easily, and looks mighty tempting across the board.
