BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, August 8th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
It was “one-paced Saturday” as far as all of our Pix were concerned last week as the 2-year-olds and the lone 3-year-old that we liked each managed to get off well and then just gallop along without accelerating when it counted. Sometimes you have those days. It was a fairly decent week otherwise for BreezeFigs maidens, especially at Del Mar. Among the 3-year-olds, three won at Del Mar and one each at Ellis Park, Laurel and Saratoga. Three juveniles also won at Del Mar, including a $24 BreezeFigs exacta, and the other winners came at Arlington, Gulfstream, and Santa Rosa. Today’s cards have plenty of opportunities, but we found one where stride lengths ought to make a difference, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreeeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-year-olds
Saratoga, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 1 1/16 Miles, (Turf)
This event sees all three BreezeFigs horses making their debuts, and at this distance on this surface early in their careers, stride lengths may make a difference. On that score, Mighty Mo comes in with a four-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSMAR that featured a foot-above-average stride length of 24.97 feet at a quarter-mile. On the next day, Conquest Windycity registered an even-Par Group 2 profile at the same distance with a 26.05 foot stride length, almost two feet longer than average for colts that day. Matt King Cole posted an even-Par Group 2 profile at OBSAPR at one furlong, where his 23.30 feet, about Average for colts that day at one furlong. To us, we like the top two as keys with Matt King Cole a toss-up for the gimmicks. Good luck!
