BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, August 31, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
We didn’t fancy him but BreezeFigs first-timer As Seen on Tv did scamper home last week in our Pix at what we thought was a rather short $13. He was one of nine BreezeFigs maiden 2-year-olds that came home on top last week including: three at Del Mar (one a BreezeFigs superfecta), one each at Evangeline and Gulfstream (a BreezeFigs exacta), and three at Saratoga (one a BreezeFigs exacta, the other Crystalle who broke her maiden in the P.G. Johnson Stakes). Four 3-year-old BreezeFigs maidens won, two at Del Mar, one at Ellis and another at Saratoga. Remember, Monday will be the last day for posting of the 3-year-old BreezeFigs, so don’t yell at us on Tuesday! Today’s cards are loaded with possibilities, but we’ve got one on each that should do nicely, see below. Happy Labor Day. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds:
Saratoga, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 1 1/16 Miles (Turf)
They are going to bet Structor (at 2-to-1 morning line) and Sul Moon (5-to-2) off the charts because they are trained by Brown and Mott respectively, and on BreezeFigs first-timer Structor has an edge. He posted a two-over-Par Group 2 ticket at a quarter mile at OBSMAR with a 26.17 foot SL, more than a foot longer than average for colts that day at the distance. He is built like and moves like a turf horse, so we shall see what he has here. Sul Moon, on the other hand, breezed the same distance at the same sale on a different day and posted an even-par Group 2 with a 23.89 foot SL, more than three-quarters of s foot shorter than average that day—a very similar profile to Mott’s Crystalle who won the stake this week as a maiden (see above). He ran a monster second in his debut over this course earlier in the meet, and may actually, in the long run, be the better of the two. This is a stone cold BreezeFigs exacta either way and a two keys in the lock. Good luck!
3-Year-Olds:
Del Mar, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
There are five BreezeFigs colts in this race, three of which are first-time starters and only one out of the whole lot who looks like he has a shot to make some noise. That would be Justinian, who posted a seven-over-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSMAR with a whopping 26.76 foot stride length (SL), over two feet longer than average for colts that day at a furlong, But he moved a little funny and was scratched (SCR) before the sale began. He came back at EASMAY with an almost identical profile—eight-over-Par Group 1 with a 26.41 foot SL, over a foot and three-quarters longer than average that day and sold for mucho bucks. He has Baffert, so his 7-to-2 morning line may be hiding something, but he should be your key, period. Good luck!
