BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, August 25, 2018, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Like just about everyone else, we were ready to cash our win bet on Ahead of Plan last week when he unaccountably blew his lead inside the final yards—but at least he was our key recommendation so it wasn’t a total loss. The juvenile BreezeFigs maidens went on a rampage last week with 17 of them winning, at: Delaware, Del Mar (two), Ellis (two), Evangeline, Gulfstream (five, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Laurel, Monmouth, Saratoga (three, including two BreezeFigs exactas), and Woodbine. The 3-year-olds did OK considering there were not a lot of them running—four of them won at Arlington, Gulfstream, Los Alamitos and Saratoga. We have a baby race on Travers Day and one from the 3-year-olds as well that both look interesting, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-year-olds:
Saratoga, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Someone must know something about Greyes Creek besides us since he is the 8-to-5 morning line favorite on the rail in a pretty short field. He threw in a two-over-Par Group 2 performance at OBSMAR at a quarter mile with a 25.38 foot stride length (SL), three-quarters-of-a-foot longer than average for colts that day at that distance, which no doubt helped him score an $850,000 price. Obviously, he’s the key. Lucid Dream showed well at OBSAPR with a three-over-Par Group 1 ticket that featured a 25.35 foot SL, just about a foot longer than average for colts that day at an eighth. However, he was scratched (SCR) after that and did not go through the ring. At 15-to-1, he looks like a likely gimmick play..
3-year-olds:
Monmouth Park, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Turf)
True Yankee goes here at a nice price with no clue in the PP’s that she was in a 2-year-old sale last year. That’s because she failed to sell (RNA) at 47k at OBSAPR after posting a three-over-Par Group 1 ticket with a 23.69 foot SL, almost a half-foot longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. She is still owned by her breeder, who also consigned her to the sale, so they must like her as a broodmare prospect as well as a racehorse. Take a look, play her however you’d like. Good luck!
