BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, August 24, 2019 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
We are still trying to get past last week’s off-the-wall results wherein our 3-year-old Pick Rapport had no such feelings when it came to racing. Our 2-year-old Pix got forced into supporting a partial BreezeFigs superfecta by a BreezeFigs longshot who simply did not figure other than the fact that right after the race everyone in America said, “D. Wayne Lucas second time starter with Lasix.” Sure. In any case, summer is a winding down and this will be the penultimate BreezeFigs card for the 3-year-olds (we end their card on Labor Day). Last week five of them graduated at: Canterbury, Mountaineer, Presque Isle and Saratoga (two). Today’s 3-year-old card has no viable first time starter to single out. The 2-year-old BreezeFigs maidens did quite well last week with 10 others besides Mr. Lucas’ beast taking home top honors at: Del Mar (BreezeFigs exacta), Ellis, Evangeline, Golden Gate, Gulfstream (BreezeFigs exacta), Laurel (BreezeFigs exacta), Prairie Meadows, Saratoga (two others including a BreezeFigs superfecta and a BreezeFigs exacta) and Thistledown. In addition, there was a BreezeFigs trifecta in the Skidmore Stakes at Saratoga. Surprisingly today’s 2-year-old card is a bit of a mess, but we’ve come up with something that might eventually turn out to be a key race, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
2-Year-Olds:
Monmouth Park, 4th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Turf)
This could be a key race given some of the connections and pedigrees besides those of the four BreezeFigs colts, all of whom figure in the scheme of things. This field is unusual because three of the four BreezeFigs colts breezed on separate days at EASMAY and each of them did quite well. First timer Cool Assassin (offensive name) racked up a four-over-Par Group 2 ticket at a quarter mile with a 24.23 foot stride length (SL), about an eight of a foot longer than average that day. First timer Tempus put in an even-Par Group 2 effort at a furlong with a 24.31 foot SL, a half-foot longer than average on his day. Second time starter Sirluvshimselfalot (hilarious name) is going to be one of the favorites based on his debut backed up by a two-over-Par Group 1 effort with a 25.12 foot SL, a foot longer than average. As Seen On Tv comes out of OBSAPR with a one-over-Par Group 2 ticket that featured a 23.64 foot SL which was about a third of a foot shorter than average at a furlong that day. This is a race where you look at the board to see who’s fooling around an who is serious. We’ll toss in one or more of the EASMAY colts into a gimmick or two and sit back and see if this is a quality bunch at the wire. Good luck!
