BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, August 21, 2021 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Well, that was over fast: One part of our stone cold exacta box Pick, War Smoke, was scratched and then the other half, Suit of Armor, was basically left at the gate. Everyone says bet him back, and the way he closed to finished fourth gets our vote as well. It was a productive week for BreezeFigs maidens all over the place. Nine of the 2-year-olds won at: Colonial (three on the same day), Delaware, Del Mar, Indiana, Saratoga (two) and Woodbine. Eight 3-year-olds won at: Delaware (two), Del Mar, Gulfstream, Louisiana Downs, Penn National, Pimlico and Saratoga (BreezeFigs exacta). No first timers on the 3-year-old card today but there are plenty of opportunities on the juvenile side with two looking especially promising, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds:
Ellis Park, 8th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Turf)
This is a dicey Pick because two of the three BreezeFigs fillies in here are trained by Mark Casse for different owners and both have a serious shot. We like Souper Hoity Toity best and not just because of her name. It’s based on her 11-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSMAR where her 24.70 foot stride length (SL) was a foot and three-quarters longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. United Front posted a four-over-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSJUN with a 23.27 foot SL, about a quarter foot shorter than average that day at a furlong. Aboukir Bay showed nicely in a two-over-Par Group 1 performance at OBSAPR where her 23.82 foot SL was a fifth of a foot longer than average but she finished up the track in her debut. We’d key Souper Hoity Toity and United Front in here with Aboukir Bay a possible throw-in depending on the board.
Del Mar, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Two BreezeFigs fillies with generous morning lines look very tempting here. Belle Cherie pounded out a 12-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSMAR with a 25.84 foot SL, almost three feet longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. Benedict Canyon tossed in an even-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSAPR with a 24.97 foot SL, a foot longer than average that day. Key these two. Good luck!
