Breezefigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, August 15, 2020 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
One was left at the gate and the other was bounced around at the start which tells you that neither of our Pix last week got anywhere near what they might have gone if things worked out cleanly. Still, eight BreezeFigs juveniles broke their maidens during the week which indicates the babies are booming since the 3-year-olds were pretty quiet. The babies won at Ellis, Evangeline (two), Gulfstream (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Indiana and Presque Isle. The sophomores won at Arlington, Presque Isle and Saratoga. Today’s card is all over the place but we’ve got a couple worth looking at, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.comhttp://www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here are Saturday’s Pix:
2-Year-Olds
Gulfstream Park, 5th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 Furlongs (Turf)
There are five BreezeFigs fillies in here—three in the body of the race, one on the AE and the other MTO. If it stays on the weeds you might want to concentrate on Beto’s Girl and Speeding, the latter of which is likely to be taking money because of her connections. That would be OK in light of her one-under-Par Group 3 ticket at OBSAPR where her 24.87 foot stride length (SL) was almost three-quarters of a foot longer than average—she is worth keying on. Beto’s Girl, on the other hand, had an eight-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSJUN where her 25.02 foot SL was over a foot longer than average that day, but she is at a price here. Quick Gold is also in the body of the race but her four-under-Par Group 3 ticket from OBSAPR featured a weak 22.56 foot SL, almost a foot and three-quarters shorter than average. If either one gets in, Strong Azteca and Ventitive are both worthy of your attention depending on the weather—look at their numbers on the card
3-year-olds
Los Alamitos, 1st Race, Maiden Claiming (44,000) 4 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Yes, that claiming price is four grand and no, this is not for quarter horses. But if she is in one piece Banjo Girl could play a big tune based on her two-over-Par Group 2 profile at FTCJUN last year where her 24.39 foot SL was a foot and three-quarters longer than average and where she was not sold (RNA) for 39k. We never pick them this cheap but this one just popped up and we thought it’s a good one to watch on the board and play accordingly, or not. There you go. Good luck!
