BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, August 13th, 2016 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Not much happened with our Pix last week although much to our surprise our “intriguing” Pick, Mr. Grey (Fr) actually went off the favorite in his race at Delaware and closed well to complete a paltry $6.60 (for $1) exacta with the second choice. The rest of the BreezeFigs 2-year-olds did well during the week with 13 of them breaking their maidens: Delaware, Del Mar (two), Gulfstream (two) Laurel (both races on the same day), Louisiana Downs (exacta), Monmouth, Parx (exacta), Prairie Meadows, and Saratoga (two). The 3-year-olds did well for this time of the year, with five of them winning at Ellis, Saratoga (two), Suffolk and Woodbine. Remember, we drop the 3-year-olds after Labor Day. Saturday we will concentrate on the babies, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Saratoga, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 1 1/16 Miles (Turf)
This condition usually does not bring our horses whose connections want to “give them a race,” so it’s going to be serious in here. The BreezeFigs horses include one on the Also Eligible, Our Stormin Norman, who has had his chances and shown his even-Par Group 3 effort at FTFMAR with a 23.33 foot stride length (SL) that was .66 of a foot below average that day was pretty much on target. Union Riches, who breezed at both OBSMAR and EASMAY is on the Main Track Only team and will not get in if the weather forecast is correct—and we don’t like him on either surface. That leaves five others, one of which. Concatulations, has lived up to his modest OBSAPR profile in three starts. That leaves four first-timers, two of which—Summer Causeway and Killybegs Captain—have very modest profiles. Now we come to the two serious ones. Menacing Dennis threw in an eight-over-Par Group 1 effort at OBSAPR where his 24.31 foot SL was almost three-quarters of a foot longer than average for colts that day at a quarter mile. He’s OK as a gimmick play. The one we really like is Formula One, whose 10-over-Par Group 1 effort at OBSMAR was quite impressive especially considering his 26.16 foot SL was 2.15 feet above average for colts that day at an eighth of a mile. His connections don’t fool around. Pounce. Good luck!
