BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, August 1, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Our “Arlington Appetizer” left a crumb on the table as our 2-year-old Pick, Scaterra, blew the doors off at a surprising $13, but Savage couldn’t get up late and finished second but he was a good gimmick payee. There were two other juvenile BreezeFigs maidens that won last week, at Ellis and Parx, and the 3-year-olds continued to march through the condition books with a dozen of them breaking their maidens at: Arlington, Del Mar, Ellis, Finger Lakes, Laurel (two), Lone Star (two), Monmouth and Saratoga (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta). Today’s cards are contentious but we found one race where there may be a reasonable chance to get some decent payback, see below. Stay safe and good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: http://www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here is Saturday’s Pick:
2-Year-Olds
Saratoga, 1st Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Zunith Moon and Reinvestment Risk are in the inside posts which can be a disadvantage for babies in dashes but this is six furlongs which gives them a chance to recover if it gets rough at the start. Zunith Moon comes out of OBSMAR with a seven-over-Par Group 1 profile that featured a whopping 26.88 foot stride length (SL) which was more than two-and-a-half feet longer than average for colts that day at a furlong. Reinvestment Risk breezed on a different day at the same sale but at a quarter mile chalking up a one-under-par Group 3 number with a 25.43 foot SL that was five-eighths of a foot longer than average for colts at the distance. These two are reasonably priced in the morning line and deserve gimmick attention. Good luck!
