BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, April 9th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Let us not dwell on what was perhaps the most horrifying performance of any Pick we have thrown out there—we are still shaking our heads, There were seven BreezeFigs maidens who did come through last week, at Aqueduct, Gulfstream (two), Laurel, Oaklawn, Tampa Bay and Turfway. Today’s card has several really good opportunities—and to make up for last week’s stinker, we are giving you two shots, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pix: Aqueduct, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, (New York-Breds), 6 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Sky Chaparral looked fairly decent going a furlong with a third-of-a-foot longer than average 23.38 foot stride length (SL) at OBSAPR last year to earn a Group 1 profile. However, he was scratched (SCR) after the breeze and never made it to the auction ring. He looks like he might be a gimmick play along with one of our previous Pix, Benevolence, who closed determinedly in his first start franking his EASMAY Group 1 form where he put in a three-over-Par performance with a 24.11 foot SL. Good luck!
Santa Anita, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 5 ½ Furlongs (Dirt)
Rockport Babe posted a four-over-Par Group 1 profile at BARMAR last year with a 25.11 foot SL, more than a foot-and-a-third longer than average for fillies that day at a furlong. She did not sell (RNA) on a final bid of 34k. She was wheeled back at BARMAY where she was sold for 49k after posting a one-over-Par Group 2 effort with a 24.94 foot SL, almost a foot-and-a-quarter longer than average that day. She was consistent enough to merit gimmick and possibly straight consideration here. Agent Nine T Nine posted an even-Par Group 2 effort at a quarter mile at OBSAPR, but her 22.75 foot SL was a third-of-a-foot shorter than average for fillies that day at that distance—outside gimmick play at best. Good luck!
