BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, April 8, 2017 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
Visionary Tale, the “no brainer” part of our gimmick play last week, galloped home at $3.60, but our sneaky first timer, Etaki’s Gem, one-paced it all around to finish fourth so we didn’t quite score out. Fourteen other BreezeFigs maidens came home on top during the week, and three others on the cards won stakes. The winners came at Aqueduct (two), Fair Grounds (two), Gulfstream (three, including two BreezeFigs exactas), Laurel, Mahoning Valley, Oaklawn, Santa Anita (three) and Turfway. The stakes winners came at Fair Grounds (True Emperor), Oaklawn (Five O One), and Tampa Bay (Mo Cash). There are a lot of close calls on Saturday's card, but we’ve found a particularly intriguing one to consider, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Santa Anita, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Four BreezeFigs fillies in this one, three of which are making their debuts, Queen Laila had two opportunities to show her stuff last year, first at FTFMAR where she posted a one-over-Par Group 1 profile with a 23.91 foot stride length (SL), about a third-of-a-foot longer than average for fillies that day at one-eighth, on the dirt. She was scratched (SCR) from the sale before the auction began, however, and came back at OBSJUN with another Group 1 effort, this one three-over-Par, with a 24.26 foot SL, seven-eighths of a foot longer than average, on synthetic. She’s listed at 7-to-2 second choice in the line. Gabbiemiester posted an even-Par Group 1 profile at OBSAPR at a quarter mile, showing a 23.86 foot SL which was a bit above average for fillies that day at that distance—she’s 15-to-1. Earlier that week, Tim’s Girl also posted an even-Par performance at a furlong, with a 24.32 foot SL which was more than a foot longer than average—she’s 12-to-1. Southern Mischief came out of OBSMAR with a seven-under-Par Group 4 profile that featured a 23.39 foot SL, almost three-quarters of a foot shorter than average, which was obvious in her debut—but she’s 9-to-2. So, we toss the firsters around and did some more digging and think that Gabbiemeister and Queen Laila could be keys and Tim’s Girl a gimmick toss in. Good luck!
