BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, April 30th, 2016 by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
First, of course, the good news: The first BreezeFigs 2-year-olds to start this year both won—both on Wednesday at Keeneland. Drafted, a three-under-Par Group 4 graduate of OBSMAR skipped away from a depleted field of three others in the second race to pay $10.20, setting a track record for four-and-a-half furlongs. In the fourth race Capt. Grider an even-Par Group 2 graduate of FTFMAR showed more patience and came from off the pace to pay $7.20. Now, the bad news, Part 1: No 2-year-old races on today’s card. Sorry, not our fault. Bad news Part 2: Enchanting Ally our Pick last week, was bet but did not get into any rhythm and finished seventh. There weren’t that many races carded so only five BreezeFigs maidens won last week, including a BreezeFigs exacta at Tampa Bay which paid $61. Two others came at Gulfstream with one each at Mountaineer and Parx. Today’s card has a good assortment of firsters, but there is a sneaky one we found that might do, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Parx, 2nd Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
With an even-Par Group 2 ticket at OBSAPR where she posted a 24.18 foot stride length (SL) that was almost a foot longer than average for fillies at an eighth that day. Crown Ginger has been training steadily for a debut that might result in a good return, unless she’s pounded down from her 5-to-1 morning line. On the other hand, Burning Millions made her debut at Keeneland earlier this month and was basically eased. Unless she improves on that performance and her three-under-Par Group 3 profile at EASMAY where her 22.83 foot SL was .66 shorter than average, she won’t find much to pick up here. Crown Ginger looks like a pretty safe gimmick play and might even be tempting enough to play straight. Good luck!
