BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, April 27, 2019, by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore
After a week off to attend the OBSAPR rodeo we are back with a short recap of our April 13thPick which looked like a BreezeFigs trifecta until the last few yards when pacesetter Wander In wandered back and closers Company Store and Glory of Florida came flying. Unfortunately, a non-BreezeFigs horse got there first but our keys and gimmick choice finished second, third and fourth for some consolation. As for this week the news is that the 2-year-olds are running with one of them, Anna’s Fast, blowing the doors off at Keeneland. There were a half-dozen 3-year-old BreezeFigs maiden winners during the week at Golden Gate (two, pay attention to Golden Gate), Gulfstream, Laurel, Santa Anita (BreezeFigs exacta) and Tampa Bay (BreezeFigs trifecta). Saturday's first-timers give slim pickings, and we are ignoring one that might come off the turf, but found another that may be sneaky good — see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreezeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Tampa Bay Downs, 8th Race, Maiden Special Weight, 6 Furlongs (Dirt)
Two BreezeFigs fillies in here, one of which, Cultural Mandate, looks mighty tempting at the 12-to-1 morning line. She tossed in an even-Par Group 2 effort at OBSJUN with a 24.03 foot stride length (SL), which was just about average that day for fillies at an eighth. However, she was not sold (RNA) at 28k so this sale doesn’t appear in her PP’s. True Atka, who is making her third start, also breezed the same day and posted a one-over-Par Group 2 ticket with a 24.10 foot SL, so these two look even on this sale. However, she was scratched (SCR) before the sale began. This effort followed her OBSAPR one-under-Par Group 3 effort were her 24.97 foot SL was a foot longer than average. But she did not sell at a 65k RNA there. Neither of these sales appear in her PP’s, but she has decent form in her first two starts and is listed at 5-to-1. These two are gimmick worthy at the very least, and you might watch the board when it comes to Cultural Mandate if you’re thinking of using either as a key. Good luck!
