BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, April 25th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore
Not much you can do when you’re five-wide all the way and then go six-wide into the stretch unless your horse has a supercharged motor. Thus was the case with our Pick last week, and though Cort’n Asong actually did not get beaten by that much, a trip like that usually doesn’t cash tickets, especially at a mile on a tight turf course like Keeneland. Still, it was an excellent week for BreezeFigs maidens overall—17 of them got their picture taken: Aqueduct (three), Gulfstream (four, including an exacta), Hawthorne (an exacta), Keeneland, Parx, Penn, Pimlico, Santa Anita (three) and Tampa Bay (two). In addition, the Stormy Blues Stakes at Pimlico was swept by BreezeFigs fillies, and even though the winner, Lady Shipman, paid a measly $3, the exacta with Comforter was $51, and the trifecta with Harlan’s Honor popped up at $247. Remember to check the 2-year-old cards each day as baby races are now being carded, though none as yet with BreezeFigs horses. Today’s card is a bit sparse on first-timers, but we found one of interest, see below. Good luck!
If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreeeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.
Here’s Saturday’s Pick:
Tampa Bay, 8th Race, Maiden Special Weight, One Mile, (Turf)
He has action that might make him better on the turf than on synthetic or dirt, so we’re opting for Aurora’s Kid in this event. He posted a two-over-Par Group 2 profile at OBSJUN, but what really stood out was his 24.87 foot SL, which was more than a foot and a half longer than average for colts that day at one eighth. True Diplomacy is also in this race and this guy showed in his debut that his Group 4 five-under-Par profile at OBSAPR with a 22.30 SL (a foot and a half below average that day) was on target when he was up the track. You might not get a price on Aurora’s Kid, but he’s a good key here at 4-to-1 on the morning line. Good luck!
