BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, April 18th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore

webmaster|Apr 17, 2015

We are literally ready to leave for the airport to get to the OBSAPR sale, so this will be a bit to the point. If you had the prescience to throw our Pick last week, All Day Alice, into your superfecta mixes, you may not have liked her distinctly one-paced style to finish fourth but if you had the other three, you nailed a $56,000 payoff. If only, right? In any case, there were nine BreezeFigs maidens who won last week, at Aqueduct, Charles Town, Gulfstream, Keeneland (2), Pimlico and Tampa Bary (3). In addition, four previous BreezeFigs winners won stakes races, two at Keeneland, and one each at Oaklawn and Santa Anita. Today’s card is loaded with opportunities and one potential star, see below. Good luck!

If you’d like to learn a little more about how we come up with BreezeFigs, take a look at our new website by clicking here: www.biodatatrack.com and click on the tab BreezeFigs at the top of the page. In there you will find a link to a major study of how over 17,000 BreeeFigs horses from the sales 2007 through 2013 have succeeded on the racetrack based on Group and stride length. You can also access that study by clicking this link: www.biodatatrack.com/BreezeFigs-Study.pdf.

Here’s Saturday’s Pick:

Keeneland, 7th Race, Maiden Special Weight, One Mile, (Turf)

Five BreezeFigs colts are in here, including Grand Sky, who is on the AE list and will be a contender if he draws in,. But if he stays in, Cort’n Asong is the one to key in this event. This colt knocked off a four-over-Par Group 1 profile at FTFMAR last year with a 24.71 foot stride length, almost three quarters of a foot longer than average for colts at one eighth on dirt, which means he might be OK if the race comes off the weeds. Grand Sky hammered out a 10-over-Par Group 1 profile at KEEAPR last year when the track was synthetic, where his 25.61 foot SL was 1.34 feet longer than average. He showed real promise in his debut last year but something obviously went wrong in is next start. Check the board if he draws in, nice horse. Nexrad showed he can be taken seriously on the weeds off his debut, and his three-over-Par Group 2 effort at OBSMAR featured a 23.83 foot SL, more than half a foot longer that average for colts that day. The other two are puzzlers, both first timers, with Super Indian (FR) having the best show off his two-under-Par Group 3 effort at OBSJUN featured a good 23.79 foot SL, almost half a foot longer than average that day—but he was not sold (RNA) at 210k. He is bred for the turf and needs to be considered. Then there’s Lookaroundcorners, whose five-under-Par Group 3 rating at KEEAPR last year came at a quarter miler, and featured a 24.69 foot SL, which was right on average for that day. He may like turf better and could be a gimmick play here. But we’re going to key Cort’n Asong here, with Nexrad as a back-up and Grand Sky thrown in if he draws in. Tough race, but should be a pip.. Good luck!
