Coady Photography Breeze Rider returned $10.60 in winning the My Charmer at Turfway Park on Saturday.

Breeze Rider and veteran jockey E.T. Baird took full advantage of being the lone speed in the My Charmer when proceeding to a 4 3/4-length victory Saturday night in the $95,840 race over Tapeta at Turfway Park in northern Kentucky.

Always comfortable when setting fractions of 25.73 and 50.46, Breeze Rider lengthened stride down the stretch when finishing the 1 1/16-mile distance in 1:44.16 over the synthetic surface. The 4-year-old Paynter filly returned $10.60 as second choice in a field of 11 fillies and mares.

Good Fight, a 42-1 chance, was second, followed by Fate Factor at 18-1 and Golden Curl at 36-1. Adventuring, the 6-5 favorite, had no mishap when fading to finish last.

Breeze Rider, owned by Mike Piazza Racing Stable, is based in southern Illinois with trainer Steve Manley. The bay Kentucky-bred now has won 11 of 24 starts, including four of her last five.

The $2 exacta (6-7) paid $205.40, the $1 trifecta (6-7-9) returned $982.60, and the 10-cent superfecta (6-7-9-12) was worth $2,870.51.

The next stakes at the Turfway holiday meet is the Prairie Bayou on Saturday.

Albarado eighth in final ride

Robby Albarado rode for the last time Saturday at Turfway when his only mount of the night, Big Bugg’s Girl, was never a threat when finishing eighth of nine in the seventh race, a one-mile allowance.

The result ended an otherwise brilliant career for Albarado that finds him No. 15 in earnings ($221.5 million) and No. 30 in wins (5,222) on the all-time North American jockeys lists. Albarado, 48, said he intends to take several weeks off before starting work as a jockey’s agent.
